Advantages, Disadvantages and Applicable Working Conditions of Ultrasonic Level Meter

Ultrasonic level meters operate by emitting ultrasonic waves and measuring the time for the waves to bounce back from the liquid surface. This non - contact measurement method brings several advantages.

Firstly, it is easy to install without the need to penetrate the container, reducing the risk of leakage.Secondly, it has a wide measuring range, suitable for both shallow and deep liquid level detection.

Also, it can work in various environments, including some corrosive or dirty liquid storage tanks.

However, it also has drawbacks. Ultrasonic waves are affected by temperature, pressure, and gas in the air, which may cause measurement errors. Additionally, in an environment with a lot of foam or turbulent liquid surface, the accuracy of measurement will be reduced.

This type of level gauge is most suitable for relatively stable liquid level measurement in closed or open containers, such as water tanks in water treatment plants, and storage tanks for non - volatile chemicals. It is not recommended for use in high - temperature, high - pressure, or highly volatile liquid conditions.
